The funeral of William Stone, the World War I veteran who died aged 108, is due to be held in Oxfordshire later. He joined the Royal Navy on his birthday in 1918 and served on ships through both world wars until 1945.

God Bless him, I'd forgotten his WW2 service, did I detect a slight Northern Irish accent?

I saw the poor man's funeral servcie on TV this afternoon , very sad to see these remarkable men answering the last call.
We are the poorer with their passing.

He was described on R4 today as being the last veteran of both world wars 'living in this country'.
Does anyone know who the others are, living abroad?
