Here is the entry for Ludwig Israel in the Ancestry - Germany, Index of Jews Whose German Nationality....etc etc section. Also included is his birth registry entry showing his father was Oskar and his mother was Bianka and the family name was actually Israel long before the Nazi's came to power.
Ideal, I'd been hunting about in the assumption that wasn't the actual family name, no wonder I wasn't getting anywhere
Here is the entry for Berthold Tendlau in the Ancestry - Registration of Foreigners & German Persecutees 1939-1947 section. Unfortunately his birth registry entry doesn't exist on Ancestry but his father is listed as Maier and mother is Bertha. Also included is his marriage registry entry - married on 30th October 1905 to Gertrud Charlotte Rothenstein. His father's name is listed as Max this time. There is a mention of a Berthold Tendlau on a German WW1 casualty list dated for 1st September 1916 but I can not locate his name in the list at the moment. Obviously no guarantee it is the same person.
What is interesting about Berthold & Gertrud's marriage registry above is that even though the entry was made in 1905, the Nazi's have gone through the registry and annotated the page. Half way down you can see the entry that states by the Law on the change of surnames and first names from 17th August 1938 the mentioned wife also has the first name Sara. Not sure if you already have this for Max John Tendlau: From the Ancestry Registration of Foreigners & German Persecutees 1939-1947 section This is a casualty list for WW1 and lists Max John's grandfather - Max (Berthold's father) - who served in 12 Kompanie of Reserve-Infanterie-Regiment 72 and died of his wounds on 7th June 1916. His name is at the very bottom of the middle column. Today he lies buried in the Azannes II cemetery in France.
More great stuff - I have been going through the Weiss family (still checking) and looks like his father may already have been deceased - his mother Emilie died in Terezen, his brother Dr Friederich Paul died in Auschwitz, his (I think Twin) sister Rosa Wilhelmine died in Sobibor and his brother Otto Karl also came to England pre-War so was safe, there may have been another sister but the note I found online about it gave the impression it may not be 100% certain
Been working on digging into Erwin Peter Hamburger, his parents were Martin and Kathe and both were murdered in Auschwitz - there are Stolperstein in Berlin for both - I'll need to visit when next I am there. He had a brother Alexander who also escaped to England but died in Canada in 1941 - I am wondering if he was maybe doing aircrew training or something, still looking into that to see if I can find anything
For other interested people: Martin Hamburger's brother & wife were deported to the Piaski Ghetto on 28th March 1942 where they are believed to of been murdered. From the USHMM Encyclopedia Vol 2a (which covers Ghettos): On November 3, 1942, an SS unit ordered the Jews in the Piaski ghetto on an eight- hour march to a transit camp located outside of Wołkowysk in a pre-war Polish cavalry garrison. The SS commander promised transport to those too old or too sick to move from their beds and to several women in advanced stages of pregnancy. After the other Jews had departed at noon, he ordered those awaiting transport to be consolidated together, either in a house near the Jewish cemetery or in a former school building. In one account, the SS set fire to the building as auxiliary policemen threw the elderly into the flames alive. About 20 Piaski Jews and another 3 Jews from Mosty perished in the blaze, which also destroyed a large part of the ghetto. Another account notes the Germans shot the Jews dead. At the transit camp, the Piaski deportees joined the approximately 17,500 other Jews from Kreis Wolkowysk also driven there to facilitate their deportation to extermination camps. Some sources note the Piaski (and Mosty) Jews were expelled from the transit camp, together with the Zelwa, Jałówka, and Mscibów communities, and sent on December 2, 1942, in the second Wołkowysk transport, to the Treblinka extermination camp. Other eyewitnesses remember the second transport including only the Zelwa community. They describe the Piaski (and Mosty) Jews as being on one of the subsequent transports, which left Wołkowysk for Treblinka every three to seven days, until the middle of December.

The website that showed the Stolperstein mentioned the brother dying in Canada, checking the US Holocaust site (just seen they are also on Ancestry) it has a few files on him Alexander Israel Hamburger 21/1/24 and shows him on the same Kindertransport to England then going to Canada, being sent to work on farms but being a bit arsey with the farmers and not liking taking orders so being re-interred but that only seems to cover til about 1943 - I see TNA has a file for him applying to return to the UK from Canada so looks like the bit about his death was an error

No need to look into it in too much detail from my point of view, my main focus is on the individual whose documents I have, if there immediate family served in the forces or died in the Holocaust I will look into that as far as possible, for others I'm happy with a general overview and in this case knowing he came to the UK in the same Kindertransport then went on to Canada and back is good enough for my files - its one of those awkward things when you are researching an individual, how wide do you spread the net in researching them, you can end up looking into Uncles, cousins etc if they are RAF you can get drawn into crewmates or even those they flew with once or twice etc
This time a release book from Hans Schemel from Berlin, he served with the Pioneer Corps and was employed as an interpreter working with POW's. I believe his father was Bruno Schemel born in Sorau in 1873 but living in Belin, he was deported to Lodz where he died - from searching Yad Vashem there seem to be a few Schemels with links to Sorau/Berlin who were killed who I think may have been Aunts and Uncles but I haven't been able to work out the actual family tree
Interesting thread showing the destination of German Jewish personnel into the forces, that being usually, the Pioneer Corps. However many were accepted for the front line in land forces as well as aircrew and RN. There is a German Jewish SAS casualty interred in the cemetery at Moussey in the Vosges who was killed bearing an anglicised name. His CWGC headstone also records his true name. Regarding the race laws and the anti-Semite policies of the Third Reich. Those of the Jewish faith were forced to adopt Hebrew first names....that of Israel for males and Sarah for females. Sarah was also spelt as Sara.

Not the most welcoming name, this site CAST - WW2 Czechoslovaks in the Pioneer Corps (geocities.ws) mentions 19 "Loyal Alien" companies
"There is a German Jewish SAS casualty interred in the cemetery at Moussey in the Vosges who was killed bearing an anglicised name" For Harry Ree, AB64, and all who visit this thread. If you wish to know more, do seek out Rudi's story. Always remember, never forget.
Interesting he got a new number to go with his new name, I assumed that just carried over, always useful to learn these things
