The death of free speech, means that only the terrorist words are heard. For their opinions are never censored.

Sapper, as far as I can see, you can still speak freely ... so can I.

Margaret Thatcher censored the IRA, and we had to hear the words of Gerry Adams 'spoken by an actor' ... like that really achieved anything other than allow his supporters to call the British Government hypocrites.

I am deeply angered by the closing of a thread, that gave us voice to the threat from the Muslims to march through Wootten basset. It has an aura of decadence... Only speak your mind while no one is listening. It stinks.

Be careful of the thought police. What makes me even angrier, is that I have contributed a great deal to this site....
Given a chance? I would remove the lot.

Calm down the thought police are all a round in everyday life, please please continue your posting on the forum I for one really apreciate your contributions.
Remember the forum as a whole, whatever your views and thinking on the subject. A lot more people will be asking the same question as you have asked in your closed thread.

Brian, it's not thought police. I can assure that none of us Mods are anything remotely approaching that, but we do have a duty as Mods and there have been complaints about the thread.

Adam wisely decided to lock the thread for 24 hours to let people cool off, and we will then take it from there.

Generally we avoid arguments on this forum, especially about modern politics. Long may that continue, but everyone has to remember that we don't all share the same beliefs, whether it politics, religion or otherwise. That's one of the benefits of living in the democracy you're generation fought for.

I'm afraid you don't make the rules Donnie; "if you don't like it don't read it" doesn't work for us, and we won't entertain incitements to racism or violence on this forum.

Brian, unfortunately this country's not like it used to be. There's lots of things you can't say any more. Ba Ba Black sheep got banned, Blackboards became Whiteboards, Gollywogs dissapeared from the Marmalade jars.... the list goes on.

Black people can call each other Nigger, but white people would get called a racist.

I know it's annoying but until we get a PM who's got balls to turn the tide, we're stuck with it.

You keep plodding on mate and tell 'em how it is.

Like I say, Vote Brian for government. :)

Right, how do you express yourself on a public forum without upsetting a few people when it is such a heated subject?

Sapper I salute and greatly respect your attitude it was because of men such as you that we have the FREEDOM to speak our mind. I LOOKED THROUGH THE CLOSED THREAD AND SAW NOTHING RACIST! very strong views on a very heated subject maybe, but is that a surprise:huh: do we really want a radical group who are after all ANTI British Army, TO THE EXTENT THAT THEY HAVE CALLED THEM COWARDS AND NAZIS, which I find extremly offensive and untrue:mad: this is the difference between freedom and truth somthing the Nazis knew only to well and the likes of the BNP continue today. And do we really expect any relative or fellow soldier be they male or female just to be PC;) to stand idly by while these so called British citizens who are without argument radical hate filled muslims (who were openly condemned in no uncertein terms in my local paper today by a British Muslim who is proud of his country and their men and women who fight for his country!) march through the same streets that has seen countless times the bodies of this nations men and women pass by.And Sapper please dont feel your time on this Forum has been in vain, its because of you and men like my Dad that we are here today to say what we believe is RIGHT OR WRONG and you sir are right! regards, Jason

Don't tar all Asians with the same brush chaps. Millions fought for this country during WW2 including Muslims (Some winning the Victoria Cross) even those from what is now called Pakistan today.

Muslims are still fighting for this country today and in recent times dying too.

Proud to be Muslim, a soldier and British

And in the Royal Signals to boot !

Jason it's quite possible to argue against these people without resulting to some of the language used on that thread.

I would venture to say there isn't a single member of this forum who would remotely support the ideas or ideals of this group, but equally some people don't want to read comments of the like that were made. If we receive complaints we are obliged to look at them, and act if necessary.

Ok Mate, you explain to the families of soldiers who have been killed that because of freedom of speech radical muslims can protest on the streets of the UK and get away with being overtly racist towards us...

Agree 100%. I have a few asian mates who are spot on lads.

It is the minority who give the rest a bad name.

I just think the country has gone nuts with all this, you can't say this and.. ooh ssshhh you can't say that.

Why the heck not? Say what you want as long as you make it clear it's aimed at the minority.

Andy, once again I would agree with you only difference is these guys would rather bear arms against those you mention, well I say bear arms I doubt they would be that noble.

I don't need to, as the Law of the land was against this event ever happening in the first place. Check out eg.

    Right to protest - Law - need2know

The whole thing was about this group getting publicity, and with respect hand-ringing like yours has only given them more.

Yeah well, sometimes enough is enough....its the British way isnt it, carry on like nothings happened. To be honest i am fed up with coming second best and things need to change. If you cant express yourself on a computer how do you think things will ever change when someone has to do it face to face?

And by the way, "hand-ringing" i would like to ring thier necks....you ever stood on the road in Wooten Bassett? the thought of those radicals marching down there makes me sick....

I have no wish to cause dissent here. I just get very angry when anyone holds our fighting men in contempt..And they certainly have done that.

But free speech is a British right..I have never bowed to the Politically correct idea that we should not speak out....
I Know its daft but taking this to its logical conclusion, we would not have spoken out against our previous enemy. Fearing that we would fall foul of the politically correct.
