Hallo,

Ik ben nieuw op dit forum maar werd naar hier verwezen door Pieter F.

Zijn er mensen die me meer informatie kunnen verschaffen over:

Frederick Albert Foster
Flight Sergeant
Service record: 1321968
° 10 juni 1923
+ 25 april 1944 Mechelen
115 squadron
woonplaats 1944 => 3, Alma Place, Thornton Heath, Surrey
vader Albert Foster
moeder Annie Adcock

Are there people who can provide me with more information:

I am looking for more information about him and if possible a photo. This part of the 75th anniversary in 2019, which we hope to commemorate. Photographs for all crew members
To date, Frederick Albert Foster is the only crew member without a photo.

It seems they may have been busy - checking for Foster births with the mothers maiden name of Adcock, the results for Croydon (as Fredericks birth was):

1. Frederick A - 1923
2. Phyllis W - 1925
3. Dorothy - 1927
4. Beryl J - 1930
5. Edna J - 1932
6. Evelyn - 1937

Well found TD. So he might have had five sisters. Would there be anything to find (marriages, children) for the less common names like Phyllis and Beryl, TD?

Hi All

Like the weather it does not seem to be good news for the Foster girls as far as research in the UK is involved:

Phyllis W - born 1925 - appears to have been a spinster and died 1995

Dorothy - born 1927 - nothing found (as yet)

Beryl J - born 1930 - little found except that there was a Beryl J returning from Canada in 1949 as a 19 year old (right age) and going to live in Westcliff-on-sea (Essex)

Edna J - born 1932 - nothing found (as yet)

Evelyn - born 1937 - nothing found (as yet)

One possibility for the last three was that they may have been evacuated to Canada in possibly 1940, and Edna & Evelyn stayed there (I dont have access to Canadian records) with Beryl possibly returning home to the UK in 1949.
I cannot find any other people with trees that include any of the above :(

TD

edited to add:

Between 1951 and 1964 there are 8 Beryl J Foster recorded as marrying - but none in Essex, she may obviously have moved.

Wel that seems a possible trace to me because when searching, a lot of Foster families are known in Canada, so possibly they stayed with family there, or they were evacuated by the government rules.

edit add:

Beryl J – 1930 in Croydon, Surrey married in 1951 te Croydon, Surrey with Harry J Ward.
2 children:
- Martin A Ward ° 1954 in Croydon, Surrey, marriedd in 2001 with Helen A Mackenzie in Croydon, Surrey
- Christopher F Ward ° 1960 in Croydon, Surrey, marriedd in 1986 with Phillipa C G Mottram in Surrey

Re you last posting:
"Beryl J – 1930 in Croydon, Surrey married in 1951 te Croydon, Surrey with Harry J Ward"

There is a record of a marriage in 1951 between a Mr Harry J Ward and a Miss or Mrs Foster (it does not state her status) , BUT nowhere does it say Beryl J - it states only Beryl - so it may be the wrong one, as far as I can find in the records I have looked at. If you have other sources to look at it would be appreciated.

The marriage of Mr Harry J Ward and Beryl Foster.
To be sure we should buy the birth records of those persons.

If you are sure the details above are for the marriage you want then searching for their children results in:

England & Wales, Birth Index, 1916-2005 about Martin A Ward
Name: Martin A Ward
Mother's Maiden Surname: Foster
Date of Registration: Jul-Aug-Sep 1954
Registration district: Croydon
Inferred County: Greater London
Volume Number: 5g
Page Number: 15

England & Wales, Birth Index, 1916-2005 about Christopher F Ward
Name: Christopher F Ward
Mother's Maiden Surname: Foster
Date of Registration: Oct-Nov-Dec 1960
Registration district: Croydon
Inferred County: Surrey
Volume Number: 5g
Page Number: 16

This is based on the assumption that the parents remained in Croydon following their marriage in 1951
