I am interested in hearing from anybody who might have personal memories of sailing from India to Uk in November 1945. My parents, recently married were on this ship. Does anyone know how to get passenger records from that time? I have searched the web without success although i can see there is info about the ship itself,
zahonado There are a few veterans on here who sailed on this ship at various times. See this thread - http://www.ww2talk.com/forum/allied-units-general/34385-5th-division-13th-brigade-malaria-madagascar-sicily-2.html As for passenger records, though, I'm afraid I wouldn't know where to start.
zahonado, Try this website, it may be of interest as the ship was a Cunard Liner. Cunard Line Regards Tom

Hello and welcome, 'FRANCONIA' official number 147216 embarked at Bombay, Port Tewfik and Port Said for Liverpool. The passenger list disembarking at Liverpool, November 1945 should be held at the UK National Archives, Kew in piece BT 26/1212/43. Regards Hugh
Thanks everyone. As a married couple does anyone know what the accommodation on board would have been like (for a lieutenant or maybe a captain by then!) ? I think they treated it as a kind of honeymoon!
