My Dad Francis Dorricott has just died. He served with the Herefords from enlistment, drove a bren-gun carrier then a Weasel and was repatriated from Flensberg at the end. Does anyone out there remember him or have any tales to tell ? Any ex members of Carrier Platoon,Support Company 1st Bn the Herefordshire Regt ( or their relatives) might like to know that I have an original group photograph of 65 soldiers taken on 23rd June 1944 .Every face is crystal clear and all 65 are identified by name/initials/rank. Thanks All
Hello, I hope you get this message as it’s from many years ago, I’ve just started researching my Grandad Norman Gilbert he was lance corporal in the Hereford regiment 1st battalion I am really hoping that the photo you have has got my grandad in it. I would love to find out more. Regards Julie
Julie, Afraid that 'Hitchlock' hasn't been around on the forum since 2012, so may not see your post - if you click on his/her avatar and then 'start a conversation' you can send a private message that may hit his/her email (providing it is still the same). If you wish to find out about your grandfather then you should apply for his official service records: https://www.gov.uk/get-copy-military-service-records/apply-for-someone-elses-records
