Thanks Ron for your understanding note. As I have said the past member distinguished herself as a core quality poster in the two years or so she was a member. She was here from the early days at a time when some might remember that people were being encouraged to join what was a newly formed forum
May I respectfully ask all members to keep me informed on this thread about the passing of any fellow members in order that I can keep the first posting up to date ? You are reminded that this applies to ALL former members and not just veterans. Many thanks Ron
It looks like one of the casualties of the current rer-shuffle is this thread. If you scroll to the top, none of the links to the profiles of the former members work. I'm keeping my fingers crossed and hoping that Adam or Otto can give this a tweak. Ron
Lesley The reason the links work is because the boss just fixed it My sincere thanks to all concerned ! Ron
The name of our much admired and highly respected TonyM (Tony Murphy) has just been added to the Forum's Roll of Honour. Forum Roll of Honour It would be appreciated if any other names that you feel should be posted are added to this thread, bearing in mind that due diligence should always be paid in ensuring that the information given is 100% correct. Ron
Sad to hear this about TonyM. I do hope that his tireless work on the women of both wars was passed on. Cheers Geoff Thanks Ron!!
Hello Ron. Would you please add Veteran Wilf Shaw to your Roll of Honour. Thank you. Wilf Shaw 6/11/2011 - 21.3.2018 http://ww2talk.com/index.php?members/wilf-shaw.24272/ Lesley
Lesley Is this him and when did he pass away ? http://ww2talk.com/index.php?members/wilf-shaw.24272/ ps My apologies Lesley, i can see that you have already supplied virtually all the info above and so Wilf's name has already been added to the list. Many thanks Ron
Wilf's name is now on the Forum Roll of Honour thanks to all concerned.especially to Charley Fortnum who pointed out an omission in my posting Ron
Attention of Moderators please ? I would very much appreciate it if some kind soul could be persuaded to take over the everyday running of this site. The task itself not onerous, but certainly requires that the member involved is a regular attender and this I can no longer promise to do (at my present age, it would certainly not come as a surprise to have my own name added to the list ) Thanks for your consideration ! Ron
On another forum I attend we have a special sub-forum, at the top of the page, for this very purpose. We found we were beginning to lose members and so we took the step of adding a sub-forum where deaths could be announced and people could post their memories of those who had passed. We also add a black ribbon to the image they use as an Avatar. It is extra Admin work, but I always felt it was worth it to remember those who contributed to the community. We named the forum "Absent Friends - Requiescat in Pace"
Sad to report that member, David Young has passed away. David was a researcher for 619 Squadron and a well respected Bomber Command researcher and will be sadly missed. Our Thoughts are with his family at this time. Rest in Peace David
