If you want to read a good book about someone's experiences as a young child in the Warsaw Ghetto and subsequently imprisonment into Trebilnka concentraion camp then I would recommend this book.

As a young boy the author does his best to forage for food to support his family as the Germans tighten the noose. One meal for example is merely just pickled onions.

Having seen his father die in the Ghetto, he and the rest of his family end up in Treblinka where they perish. But he manages to escape and become a Partisan in the underground. Eventually he manages to join the Red Army and helps with the assault on Berlin.

Post War he becomes a successful businessman, marries and has children. There is a final twist to his his roller coaster life which I will exclude. One can easily find out informatiobn on this book by doing a search, but it is worthy of reading and not knowing what happens in this chaps future until you find out in the pages.

A sobering account of someones life who time and time again faces adversity and manages to keep going.
