It's perhaps remiss of me, but I have never actually 'followed' a thread so if I want to look at anything new on items that I've been involved in, I have to look under 'items participated in'...Unfortunately, this inevitably also includes threads (usually in 'Barracks' ) that I've commented on, rather against my better judgment and then wished that I hadn't bothered as I apparently really don't very much care what comes afterwards..

Which is all rather a long preamble to asking if there is any way of 'unparticipating' from these threads / marking them to ignore.

It's not a burning issue and to be honest my main reason for posting under this heading is that I'm fed up with looking at Drew's expletive deleted heading at the top of the forum page where it seems to have been sitting for weeks. :)

Next to Thread title, right hand side,
    click to Follow/Unfollow

If you have your notifications set for threads you follow, you might want to change that too. (Click your Username at top right> My Settings> Notification Options)

Unfortunately Diane, I've never 'followed' any threads...and with such a back-catalogue, it would be a long time before starting to follow had much effect.

What I'm trying to do is re-write hsitory and pretend that I haven't taken part in threads when I really have. Is there no way to ignore threads or block them from appearing in the 'participated' list ?

I've written some drivel in the past (more than a little, really) and I don't want to keep being reminded of it.

Aye but if from now on you only 'follow' threads you are truly interested in - simpler just to mark the 1940 forum as a whole :) - and then unfollow when you're done with any - plus set up your notifications to be sent for 'followed' - then you need not wade through the chaff. ...?

I only use notifications for messages and quotes, but the drop down from that box can provide a handy little list of stuff of interest.

These settings will also send you emails if you have contributed to a thread, drivel or otherwise :( , or if you are the originator of a thread, so unfollow is a very useful tool

I might be able to 'unfollow' (what an inelegant word) you from everything, Rich. Hang on.

Adam, Probably not a lot of point as I haven't watched much in the past. What I'd really like is to pretend that I've never posted in 'Barracks'...

    'New Content'.
    Left hand side.
    'Filter by Forum'.
Toggle pink bars to highlight just 1940 & maybe weapons & tech.
    Hit save.

That should make only those forums show when you go looking for something to reply to. ;)
Though it probably doesn't work... I have no faith...
