Owen - I trust from his position - that the flag gave way and he fell the 6ft + - and he suffered a broken neck for which treatment he was sent to the last hospital in Cornwall or even John O' Groats - and that the medics ran out of tranqulizers before leaving London.......what is even worse is the so called citizen just walking away from the scene .....I would certainly put both of them in FRONT of the next patrol in Afghanistan......and I am being as merciful as I think I should be with this scum . Cheers
Same student that's swinging from Cenotaph's Union Flag. BBC News - Protest over higher university tuition fees 2nd to last picture in the BBC slide show.
I bet he isn't even a student. Remember that many of these people committing these violent acts, damage and vandalism are nothing to do with student protests. They just see it as an opportunity to have a go at the Police and are a minority of those involved, who want lawful, peaceful protest.
We had a NATO summit in Lisbon a couple of weeks ago and the Black Bloc didn't even try. First of all controls at the Spanish border crossings, major and minor, were set up for the first time since the Schengen Agreement. Enough edged and blunt weapons were confiscated, owners fine heavily and sent back to the tender mercies of the Guardia Civil. Spanish, Dutch, Finns, you take your pick, everything less Greeks. Same at airports but these slime mostly travel by land, apparently. The Police presence in Lisbon was heavy, and in case you're not familiar with the concept police over here carry sticks and guns on an everyday basis. These people can really be intimidating, think French CRS with a smile So all demonstrations were peaceful, on an Or Else basis. We have to thank the British football hooligans in Euro 2004 for the hands-on experience in dealing with noisemakers in general. Good luck, Brits! Remember, a guy's freedom ends were his neighbour's begins.
It's going to be difficult for the sentencing magistrate. A men's prison or a womens ? Do they have special units for in-betweenies ? I suppose pretty boys are always welcome in any prison ?
Why do SOME people abuse the rights that prior generations protected. As for desecrating the Cenotaph...! There were many real students in London using protest as a right for a cause they believe in. I imagine (hope?) that they are as disgusted at the activity of the rent-a-mob as I am. im
I would hope that someone there slapped him around a bit. Do that around here in Alabama and the good ol' boys will 'splain it to ya, with the police looking the other way.

Jeff, I'm sure the good ole boys are a great deterrent as well. In some ways we've actually become too civilized. There are some things which can be dealt with more effectively outside the justice system. :smash:
This might be a little off thread (that make's a change, I can hear the moderators say) but nevertheless I feel it needs saying. In 1944, when my long time club friend Donny Carlton, pictured below, won his MM at Monte Rentella he was not much older that the nameless idiot pictured above What happened to the concept of respect in the years between ? Ron RIFLE BRIGADE, 1939-45 A./CPL. D. CARLTON (10th Battalion), 7th December, 1944: M.M. For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty at Monte Rentella. On 21st/22nd June, 1944, Cpl. Carlton was signal corporal of a company which was ordered to seize the feature to the north of Monte Rentella. On approaching the objective, the company came under heavy machine-gun fire. Cpl. Carlton, however, carrying a heavy load of vital signal equipment, followed his company commander into the assault, and on reaching the position calmly set about establishing communications. Small-arms, mortar and shell fire was intense and any movement in the open was almost suicidal. Cpl. Carlton, however, volunteered to carry a message down 800 yards of exposed hillside to the reserve company, with whom it had been found impossible to make contact by any other means. This task accomplished, he immediately set out up the hill again, still under intense fire, and showing an example of personal courage and devotion to duty which was an inspiration to all who witnessed it. By the time he approached it, however, the company position had been overrun. Cpl. Carlton, however, although a signaller by trade, gathered together the men in the vicinity, organized them as a section and, still under heavy fire, successfully conducted a fighting withdrawal to the reserve company area. Cpl. Carlton's complete disregard of his own safety and fine qualities of leadership and initiative in a crisis are worthy of the highest commendation and have set a magnificent example to all ranks of the Battalion.
I hope someone recognises who it is - name and shame him. Absolutely. Disgusted to say the least. Tom
As the stories about yesterday's student's demo develop in this morning's press I think that the pic shown below just about sums it all up for me. The young man in question is demonstrating his admiration for Churchill by urinating on his statue. Disgusted from Cockfosters ps Earlier reports about the Cenotaph incident have been updated to point out that the offender is indeed a young woman.
Ah - these people are big on their RIGHTS but never have been taught RESPONSIBILITIES that go with rights in a civilized society. Might I suggest a return to the stocks for the miscreants a short sentence 30 minutes at the local football ground before kick-off
Mate just posted this on Facebook. He's livid. It'll piss alot of people off Hey, I thought you were all up for the right to protest? http://www.ww2talk.com/forum/prewar/30379-cwgc-gardeners-whistle-blowing-strike-under-menin-gate-shocking-scenes.html
What made me laugh was some hooded moron who so proud of his appearance during an interview on the bbc that he wore a scarf to obscure his face, his line was hilarious it went like this " What people don't understand is that we come from the slums of London, the ghetto, how we ment to pay for our university place?" I'm sure there are no more Dickensian slums in London, they only live in squalor through choice, if indeed they do.
