For the majority of you who may not be aware, I found this rarity amongst my dad's searchlight bumph and a second read through was enough to convince me of the worth of sharing a transcript here. Here's the front flyleaf intro to clue you in: Published in 1942, BTW, I've never quite understood what they meant by "since the war" ... since WW1 perhaps or anticipating post-WW2 buyers ? Apart from my extra foreword, coloured blue to contrast it as such, I've not otherwise annotated the book in any way to illustrate my subsequent deductions. As the author mentions in his own foreword, this book was heavily censored - so we're left to deduce many places & events. Plymouth is easily recognisable as chapter IV's "now-famous city of the south-west" but how many of you will recognise chapter II's obviously-suppressed horrific railway disaster ?
