At 11.30 this morning a short parade and services was held in St Helier to dedicate the Royal British Legion's field of Remembrance at the local cenotaph. It's small in comparison to the one in White Hall, but no less significant. Last year the RBL Poppy appeal in Jersey raised £135,000, this year they aim to double this amount. Apart from the usual Poppies, Jersey also issues a limited edition metal badge poppy (1,500) and this year has launched a limited edition aimed at the younger generation (1,500). This part of the appeal was emphasised by the reading of a poem written and performed by a young lady from one of the local schools.

RBL Jersey has also launched it's own Face Book page and revamped website.

Here are a selection of images taken by us, for and on behalf of the RBL in Jersey.

Can you take some photos from Liberation Square, St Helier next year when you celebrate the 65th Anniversary of your Liberation.

I love that place. Brings back some fab memories.

    Cheers Robert.

Thanks for the comments, I've posted these elsewhere on the interweb on similar forums to this, though aviation related, and not got one.

Sometimes I think people don't appreciate the sacrifices that our forefathers made or are that are still being made by today's generation, maybe I'm wrong !!!

Talking of Liberation Day, I forgot to mention that The Liberation Group, the largest independant group of managed pubs in the Channel Islands are donating 10p from every pint of Liberation Ale sold in selected managed public houses over the weekends of 24 and 25 October and 7 and 8 November.

So if anyone is venturing this way over the next those weekends, have a pint of Liberation Ale and drink a toast to the fallen of so many conflicts.
