Hello - If you can get to the National Archives you'd want to have a look in these files.

    WO 169/342 2 Scots Guards 1939 Aug.- 1940 Dec.

    WO 169/1700 2 Scots Guards 1941 Jan.-Dec.

WO 169/4983 2 Scots Guards 1942 Jan.- Dec.

WO 169/10170 2 Scots Guards 1943 Jan.- Dec.

    WO 170/1353 2 Scots Guards 1944 Jan-Apr

Not sure what happened in April 1944 as there doesn't appear to be another file until 1945.

    Tom,

As you know 2nd Guards, as part of the 201st Guards Brigade were attached to 56th Infantry Division at the time of the Salerno landings, which started on 9th Sept 1943 - check.

My Dad lived in Italy for over a year, but his army records only mention Italy once - the fact he got issued an Italy Star.. plenty of references to CMF/MEF and x (ii) x (iv), and Y lists. And I've got s nice photographs of him on the Spanish Steps in July 1944. So he waz there..

    So be assured.
