Fairless Gill Fallingbostel

Seeking any information regarding 3323929 Private Fairless GILL of the Highland Light Infantry, interned in Fallingbostel..Stalag XIB ?? died beween 14-a5 April 1954. Buried in Hannover. I was wondering if he was on the March. Anything extra most welcome

Do you know when he was captured?

 

Unfortunately not, but have now established he was in Stalag XIB as POW 119463.

 

I would apply for his service records, they'll tell you when he joined up and who he served with-With that info you can get the units diaries and track is life through the war up to his capture.

 

Also I see my fingers were going faster than my brain initially.His death was between 14th and 15th April 1945, just before the liberation of the camp. The official uncertainty of the date leads me to believe he may have been on the March from the camp that started 6th April 1945
