    The exploits of a pioneering First World War pilot who completed a string of aviation “firsts” and coined the term “joystick” have been chronicled in his newly-emerged archives.


    Major Robert Loraine was a leading figure in the earliest days of flight and served in the Great War, completing one mission despite having been shot through the neck.
