I realise that this is slightly off forum topic, but here goes.

I'm seeking information about the 1st Battalion, Essex Regiment 'advance party' in Korea, June-July 1953. My grandfather was a sergeant with this unit and was badly wounded in one of the last actions of the Korean War. He is listed in his records as a member of the 'advance party', so I presume he went out on patrol with the unit that the Essex were replacing and was injured. He talked a lot about being with the Australians, and I know two Royal Australian Regiment battalions were in the line at the Samichon River.

Any information would be much appreciated. Granddad's rack contains both the Korean War Medal and UN Medal in addition to his WWII and India medals, so he definitely saw action before the 27 July Armistice. I know that 1 Essex arrived at the front on the day of the armistice and saw no action.

Anyway, any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Many thanks.
