Marc has not been on WW2 Talk for many months but I stay in touch with him. I'm sure he won't mind if I provide an update.

As of last month he was secluded in a cabin in the Canadian Rockies, near Banff, and deeply engaged in writing that screenplay based on his book, Escape, Evasion and Revenge. While I look forward to the feature film which must surely follow, I did caution him on the inherent risks of writing alone in the mountains.

I made the mistake of lending my prized, signed copy of Escape, Evasion and Revenge to my cousin. After some death threats, I finally got it back on Saturday, 2 years later! Apparently, a few dozen people read it during that time.
Sorry if that hurt your sales Marc.

This book received some very good press in the U.K. last year and many of you may be aware that Marc is currently working on a screenplay.

Despite the amazing research that Marc conducted, I have asked him numerous questions about various details. Many of those answers lost in the mists of time or taken to the afterlife with his father. If there truly is a heaven, I'm sure they will permit a sequel for the rest of the story.

    I'm baa-ack!

Thanks to all for keeping me alive on here. Just been too busy with work and events in my personal life over the past 3 years (too sad to mention).

Stefan, I did indeed visit Hannover before finishing the book. A highlight for me was visiting the graves of all of my German-Jewish relatives in two Jewish cemeteries there. As well, a distant cousin had compiled a very good family tree, which he shared with me. Finally, there are relics of the family businesses available on ebay and other sites, and I took every opportunity to put together a small collection. And, in 2014, I attended a ceremony there for the installation of 5 Stolpersteine for members of my family who were victims of Nazi persecution.

As far as I know, my publisher is not planning to translate the book into German, even though there might well be a decent market for it there. Just no budget for it, I'm afraid.

Just a few weeks ago, I obtained German citizenship under the Basic Law. It is the only tangible asset that was stolen from my family by the Nazis that I am able to recover.

The first draft of the screenplay is about 50% complete, and I am hoping to be able to finish it over the Christmas holidays this year. Fingers crossed...

    Marc
