    Hey it works! The English have never tried to pull a fast one us since we pulled that stunt ;)

    For Kitty's benefit as I know she like a man in uniform, I was in the RAOC, explosives technician, now known as the RLC I was stationed at the now infamous Blackdown Barracks, deepcut in Surrey.

    Oh yes we did! Try Falkirk 1298.
    Wallace and his lot were shot to pieces by the Welsh longbowmen in the English Army.

    There must be a lot of UK servicemen wondering if the Iraq thing is really worth it. It could go down as the first war we've lost since - when, the War of 1812? Unless you count Suez, and even there we withdrew because the UN asked us to. There was a news article today saying recruiting is down,

    However, if our country was genuinely in danger I would certainly fight - not that I'd do much good, being getting on for 50, with glasses and a bad back and always having been crap at sports.

    As to the issues of minority rights, I would say that it is precisely because we have always been relatively tolerant of minorities, other religions etc that we are better than many other countries. As the C4 programme "Empire" pointed out, although the way we ran the Empire was far from perfect, we were better more enlightened than many.
    Of course I agree that we need to set limits on immigration, extremism etc.

    To address your opening statement, everything is worth fighting for. The problem is to get others to fight along with you. See managers skills 101. Seeing both England and The United States wane in power is truly depressing but the problem is that it comes from the inside. The few within a country, who for some reason are racked with guilt, feel that they must sink the whole ship rather than do themselves in. These self loathers are called socialists and feel that it is perfectly OK to give away all that you have worked so every increasingly very hard for. Politicians must be held accountable to the citizens will. It borders on treason when they think they know best for us and simply loophole around the will of the people. It is time for all men to stand up and be counted. Do not say you wouldn't fight for your country because it isn't like your grandfathers vote the bastards out of power. If that fails pick up a pitchfork and light some torches.

    To speak about immigration their is no problem with it if those immigrants are legal and assimilate into the society of the nation they wish to go to and abide by that sovereign nation's language, culture, laws and general way of life. And that those immigrants are gainfully employed so that they are self supporting and grow the host nation's economy rather than tax it.

    Bush got a coded message from Saddam. It read: 370HSSV-0773H Bush was stumped and sent for the CIA. The CIA was stumped too, so it went to the NSA. The NSA couldn't solve it either, so they asked Bill Clinton. He suggested turning it upside down ... ;)__________________http://fioricet.ewqe-r.info/

    Wallace and his lot were shot to pieces by the Welsh longbowmen in the English Army.

    Granted, however Wallace had only half as many men with only spears, limited horse (nobles) whereas the English had 3,000 horse alone, the huge compliment of Welsh Longbowmen. Added to this, the Scottish nobles withdrew their forces.

    Edward and the Earl of Surrey had their revenge but not for long.

    Bah, Falkirk doesn't count. Wallace barely had the support of half the clans and none of the nobility. Plus those Welsh bowmen didn't really have that much of an effect on the Bruce's Schiltron's at Bannockburn did they?

    The infamous Deepcut that they are on about is that the old Buller Barracks or are they on about Blackdown up from there.

    I give you the Battle of Pinky. Whupped by a GIRL! And you always underestimated the Cheshire bowmen, didn't you? As to defeating us with the old 'lift your skirts, lads' trick, have you ever considered it was because we were laughing so damn hard?

    Wooee! Explosives! Don't s'pose you have any spare lying around, only I promised the guys on SFX I'd blow up the world for them.

    Once more unto the breach, dear friends, once more;
    Or close the wall up with our English dead.
    In peace there's nothing so becomes a man
    As modest stillness and humility:
    But when the blast of war blows in our ears,
    Then imitate the action of the tiger;
    Stiffen the sinews, summon up the blood,
    Disguise fair nature with hard-favour'd rage;
    Then lend the eye a terrible aspect;
    Let pry through the portage of the head
    Like the brass cannon; let the brow o'erwhelm it
    As fearfully as doth a galled rock
    O'erhang and jutty his confounded base,
    Swill'd with the wild and wasteful ocean.
    Now set the teeth and stretch the nostril wide,
    Hold hard the breath and bend up every spirit
    To his full height. On, on, you noblest English.
    Whose blood is fet from fathers of war-proof!
    Fathers that, like so many Alexanders,
    Have in these parts from morn till even fought
    And sheathed their swords for lack of argument:
    Dishonour not your mothers; now attest
    That those whom you call'd fathers did beget you.
    Be copy now to men of grosser blood,
    And teach them how to war. And you, good yeoman,
    Whose limbs were made in England, show us here
    The mettle of your pasture; let us swear
    That you are worth your breeding; which I doubt not;
    For there is none of you so mean and base,
    That hath not noble lustre in your eyes.
    I see you stand like greyhounds in the slips,
    Straining upon the start. The game's afoot:
    Follow your spirit, and upon this charge
    Cry 'God for Harry, England, and Saint George!'

    Old 'muppet-face' Brannah played it best.......

    Old Bill always did manage to put the right words on paper didn't he? All I now need is a gun, a bomber and a target, and I'm ready to go.
    Anyone want to bomb the BB house?
