Forum member, Stolpi, took two days of his valuable time this past Sunday and Monday to guide me around the Airborne battle for Arnhem and the famous bridge too far. The second day covered the Canadian and British battlefields in and around the Reichwald forest and the Hochwald Gap. Jet lagged! I forgot to thank Pieter F for his various links covering the liberation route. I will organize photos and post in the next few days. Many thanks to P for sharing his time and his vast expertise.:thankyousign:
Stolpi, Left Groningen at 0400 hours and drove to Dusseldorf. The kilometers logged from May 3 to May 10 were just over 2200k! Treated myself to a business class seat on Lufthansa that left me wondering who in their right German mind would have designed such a poor seat when set to 'lie flat' mode. Mind you, the service on board was excellent...due to the frauleins
Richard, Stolpi introduced me to Tom and another Veteran whose name my jet lagged brain cannot recall. The London Taxicab Association should be congratulated for organizing such a great event. Cheers from the colony.
Hi 17thDYRCH & stolpi, Would have to agree with you about the Dutch Poeple, when travelling around with Andy almost all the times they went out of there way to help us...And yes have made some Great Friends over in Arnhem... And of course this part Treated myself to a business class seat on Lufthansa that left me wondering who in their right German mind would have designed such a poor seat when set to 'lie flat' mode. Mind you, the service on board was excellent...due to the frauleins:biggrin:
