    Hi All

Durning Road Bombing - Liverpool And Merseyside Remembered

I have added the Durning Road bombing to the wartime website.

166 dead is the official figure, but its believed to be more. It is reported as being the largest loss of civilian life during WW2. Anyone know if that is true? Churchill himself called it " The single worst civilian incident of the war "

Im looking for any info about this bombing and the one at Blackstock Gardens, Liverpool on the night of 20/21 December 1940.

    Cheers

as you know there were many incidents with a large loss of life.Bethnal Green being one where 173 persons were killed.

The Blitz After the Battle V2 re the night of 28/11/1940
    states

"initial casualty figures for Liverpool/Birkenhead were 264 killed and 62 seriously injured, but as usual these Ministry of Home Security figures increased as more bodies or injured survivors were found among the rubble of bombed building"
