Philip, that's one headstone photo that deserves a special effort, for both Ron and Jacob.

Further to Mike's comment above I thought I'd better clarify my request as I wouldn't want to hog any of your valuable holiday time.

Over the past few years various members of my family have been able to pay a visit to Durnbach and so I already have photos of the gravesite.

The reason I would like a current photo is so that I can see it's present condition and to know that someone has paid a visit.

If you subsequently find that you are unable to pay a call this time I still appreciate your kind offer.

Finally, this is Jack's story as told by his son

Durnbach is a concentrated cemetery. There are not many British causalties who still lie in German commual cemeteries.

Interestingly those SAS involved in the Vosges operations and murdered at Gaggau now lie here, remotely from the scene of their murder.

Unable to find the time to visit Durnbach when "on tour" in Germany and Austria a few years ago.....should have found an extra day.

Back from a little trip to germany, had an interesting talk with the headgardener from yes, SOUTH AFRICA.

I asked him about the reason for this remote cemetery, according to him, and some locals, it is probably 1 that Heinrich Himmler came from this area, and also that Bad Tolz, was the SS Headquarters, the barracks are stille there, visited it, but is a research and shopping area now.
So it was most probably choosen for the local people not to forget what happened

Guys I am sorry, but haven't been able to lay flowers on both graves, because there aren't any flowers shops around just like in the Netherlands, have place a little candle on them.
