Owen - very odd - as you say the first three photos appear to be pre war - SO - why are they wearing Black Berets - only the RAC wore them in those days - after the war it appeared that lots of people were wearing them as they did the Maroon of the Paras and the Green of the Commandos at a time when the Brown Berets were the official headgear of the Infantry ? Pre war it was usually the hard Cap or side forage cap....!

    Cheers

cap badges of DLI & West Yorkshire Regiment.
I can see Africa Star, Italy Star as well as France & Germany Star.
Red sash indicates Sergeant or Sergeant-Major.

Tom , I said Post-war, hence the battledress with ties.

Owen - sorry I read your post war comment as pre-war - the latest photo I would say is showing- as you have pointed out - the gongs for Africa - Sicily/Italy - France and Germany which would place him in 50th Div and thus 151 Bde as Drew stated as the 150th was wiped out at Gazala.
be interesting to follow this in his servce record and I hope Patty 2233 persists and can find 30GBP from somewhere...
    Cheers

looks genuine as one photo shows him in desert in ww2 with that lorry.
Looks like he served post-war in West Yorks.
has anything you have got what looks like a 7 digit army number on it?

    Ok Tom , no probs.

I suspect he may have been Post War TA hence the West Yorks Regt. The Post War pictures have a TA feel to them the one with the .303 looks like a annual camp/range day.

The last picture was taken in Leeds but I can't make out where. Do you have the rest of the sign on the left? Looks like rehabilitaion or recreation center as a first thought.
