Here is the photo for T Speeding.

(I have most of your Normandy photos for you, but have a lot of sorting out to do before they are ready to pass on. Thought I'd do the easy ones first).

    Hi Rob,
Thanks for those much appreciated as ever.
Colonel Woods was killed during the battle for Lingevres 14th June 1944 he had been urging his men on standing in his carrier when it was hit by a mortar bomb.Lieutenant Thornton is listed as having been killed on the 14th June also although he is commemorsted by the CWGC as died on the 15th June 1944 .Lieut Black died of wounds possibly from the same action.
Capt Walker was the adjutant of 8th DLI and was very involved in the planning stages of the battalions role in `Overlord`.At St Pierre Capt Walker leapt aboard a British tank near the 8th DLI HQ and by shouting and waving his arms in full view of a strong enemy counter-attack managed to direct the tanks fire into the oncoming ranks of German Infantrymen.Capt Walker was killed in Action on the evening of the 18th June when a German Artillery `Stonk`(heavy concentration of shellfire) burst in the trees directly above Battalion HQ .

    Thanks again
    Jim

    Thanks Again Rob,
The name Henry Welch is mentioned a few times in the book `Into Battle with the Durhams` however there may have been two I`m not sure for the book refers to a Henry Welch at El Alamein and Mareth second I/C of C Company and just prior to the Battle of St Pierre there is `another Henry Welch again refered to as second I/C of C Company (To Capt St George) but this time it states a newly arrived replacement officer? Henry Welch and Captain St George were also killed by a `Stonk` which burst in the trees above their Company HQ on the 19th June 1944.

    Jim,

I took photos of all the above, except Glister, A & Saunders, P.J, which I seem to have missed. Annoyed that I did not complete this set for you.

Here is a link to the ones I took, on Photobucket. You can download them at your leisure.
