Anyone with an interest in the fighting at Cassel, Ledringhem, St Valery, or the Gloucestershire Regiment (I was impressed to see 2nd Lt. Julian Fane being interviewed), 51st Highland Divison in the BEF or BEF POW's should watch this. Faultless apart from the odd bit of post 1940 B/W footage but most is from 1940. So sad seeing these grown men cry.

I sky + it from the 70th Anniversary and watched it tonight. Shame the link is just a trailer, I think it's well worth a watch if it gets a re-run.. Andy
Is there a DVD of this? I looked on the web site (thanks for the link Owen) but there is no mention of a release. Have you any way of getting it off your Sky Plus box Drew?
Is there a list of those that were successfully evacuated. My reason for asking is that I remember an old school friend telling about his grandfather Edward |(Ted) Dench who was at Dunkirk.

I have a recordable DVD player in the loft I was thinking about playing the disc on my PC and 'screen capturing' some of the B/W footage into still pictures, if it can be done?

The only way you could find out, that I can think of, is by checking all the battalion war diaries and not all of them list the missing and killed as a process of elimination to find out who got back.

Hi Andy, you can actually do that with several video tools. If you want to do it simply, use the tool called Jing. It is free, allows you to capture a certain area of your screen, and automatically saves it as a .jpg file for you. The issue you will run into is how crisp the pics would be when you pause the DVD. Another option is I can do it for you. I have the video software and I can get frame by frame screen captures. I would also like to get a copy of this, we don't get that channel here and I am interested to see this. I would be more than happy to buy one from you. Cheers, Wayne
