Princess Lily. She was abandoned so the german guy got it wrong on the back of the photo.
She arrived off the beaches at Dunkirk in the morning of Friday 31st May and continued to work between Malo–les–Bains and La Panne until she fouled her propeller and could only go astern. She finally succumbed to engine trouble forcing her crew to abandon her at 22:00 off La Panne on Friday 31st May.

I am fairly certain that the text refers to the ‘Devonia’ in the background.
As for the location, I suspect that ‘De Panne’ was used as a well-known reference point:
Precise geographical differentiation was probably much less interesting to contemporaries at the time than it is to modern military history nerds like us.;)

I’d say so, yes. Something on the horizon to its left I think too, between the second and third posts - afloat though.

Probably been mentioned (probably by me among others) that the Dunkirk movie showed a burning Spit that clearly had no engine mounted. There was a rod running through the engine compartment that lead to a motor to turn the prop. Would have been ... uncomfortable ... for any pilot.

The same regiment but not the exact same vehicles. The two beached tanks are ALPINE HUT and COMMANDER and they appear to have stayed put long after the rest of the detritus of war was removed.
The Light tanks near the bridge are also from 5IDG and also hung around for a while as that area (a huge dump of trucks etc) was cleared.
