Can anyone ID this barge, as i have a few photos of it sunk. The last photo is not in my collection.
Other wreckage, including a fairlead, appear to belong the Doris, a barge tied to the Lady Rosebery and which also foundered in the blast. Could this be the Lady Rosebery? with the barge Doris next to it?

Some great photo's on here, I find the Dunkirk campaign fascinating. Especially as its only an hour or 2 from my home in Kent so I have frequently travelled over there.
I grew up thinking the Army was pretty poor (thanks in part to growing up in 1970's watching Dads Army) until the latter part of the war. However having read many books on the subject I came to realise how tough and disciplined the army was and how well it fought off the superior German army.
So thank you for posting these pictures.

I recently came across this picture in an old LIFE magazine (date June 24th, 1940). It is one of the many that illustrate an article written by an American reporter, Mr. John Fisher. At the time, he was the LIFE correspondent in Berlin and was allowed to follow the German army in its Flanders campaign.

This photo, which seems genuine, could clearly not have been taken by Mr. Fisher or a German photographer. Also, the style doesn’t match pictures usually issued by the PK. I suspect the origin to be British, but could not find it in the (on-line) IWM photography archive.

Since I found this photo, I have been struggling in vain trying to find the exact location where it was taken. Initially, based on the buildings in the background, I followed a hunch and started to search in the general area of Bulskamp or Furnes (Veurne in Dutch). However, though having surveyed dozen of farmhouses in that vicinity in recent weeks, I still was unsuccessful to find a match.

Without any idea of the unit involved or any other clue, it’s like looking for the proverbial needle in a haystack.
Could anyone provide me some insights?

    Kind Regards,
    Christian

IIRC this has been captioned as 2 RUR in the past. There's a series of images on IWM webpage taken of 2 RUR officers. Some of them laying/sleeping in trenches. Rich Payne will know the ones I mean.
