Hi, I am a new member living within sight of the Starfish Bunkers more correctly known as the Auchenreoch Decoy, part of Operation Starfish, on Auchenreoch Muir above Dumbarton, Scotland. I am trying to find out more about them and other associated sites around here.

My other interests are general history and architectural conservation.

My father served at Alamein and Tobruk with the Kaffrarian Rifles from the Eastern Cape / Border of South Africa covered by Francis L Coleman's book "The Kaffrarian Rifles - 1876-1986". (Probably still available on AbeBooks).

Besides medals and badges, shrapnel etc I have such things as letters with photographs from Germans to their wives picked up on the desert. They bring home the underlying realities of the war.

Hi Jeremy, welcome aboard. I have been at the AA site at Mugdock Country Park and they are interesting to wander round. Have you had a look at the Secret Scotland site about WW2 archaeology around Scotland, it's given me many interesting hours.

    Happy hunting.
