This evening I had the privilege of receiving 13 black and white pictures of the Battle of Arnhem as drawn by the late Vince Goodwin 2nd Battalion the Parachute Regiment. I think you will agree they are pretty good and drawn by someone who was actually there. Thanks Dave
Any idea when he did them , back in the day or later in life ? I will ask the person Vince originally gave them to,perhaps he may know and get back to you on that.
Very good Dave, your gonna need a new house if you keep collecting stuff at his rate! Your not wrong there Jason, I intend having them all framed professionally and displaying them in the now Pegasus dining room
Cracking pictures, Dave. Vince clearly had a great eye for detail. I especially like the first one. Talk about close quarter battle!

Fantastic drawings Dave, Vince was obviously a talented artist! Thanks for posting them...............
Just as an aside, there's a story concerning Vince and a Cpl Chilton and an incident that took place at Arnhem. During the battle, Vince and Cpl Chilton were forced to hide from the Germans in a blacksmiths forge. Unfortunately the blacksmith also used the forge as a toilet and when Vince and the Cpl managed to get out, they were both covered in crap! When they returned to their lines a none too impressed officer (his name escapes me at the moment) told them to "Go and get a bloody bath" or words to that effect! Quite where the two unlucky fellas were supposed to go and get a bath in the middle of a battle was never explained to them!! Vince is on the left and Cpl Chilton is on the right................
Vince was a cracking and 'VERY' lively fella. I am sure that the airborne nuts know about the story abiut his famous coin. Active to the end, sadly Vince is no longer with us, as is neither his dear friend George 'Ginge' Kay who passed away in August this year after a battle with cancer. Great stuff Dave P
Paul Is the picture of Vince you have posted the only one around or are there others, as I would like to make a display of his drawing along side a picture/s of him. One from back in the day and a more recent one would nice. Cheers

Maybe Tom or Lofty have more recent pics of him. All the best...............
Dave, here is a link to a photo of Vince with George Kay in 2008. I think I have some others too but will need to search through folders. The photo shows him holding the penny that bent when it deflected a bullet when he was wounded at the bridge. P www.ww2talk.com/forum/picture.php?albumid=34&pictureid=351
