Hello All, Normally I only draw soldiers from the great war, but thought I'd try my hand at world war two, heres my first effort a Jubilant Japanese soldier:
Hi Anne Seen, and been an admirer of your work on GWF. Good to see you "Putting it about". Far too much talent if you ask me... Mark.

[post=33043]Quoted post[/post] SapperNZ, I'm sorry if they caused you offence, really not what I'm about or what I intended, I did and do not intend to glorify war.... if it's in bad taste I'll remove the pictures, if you'd prefer that then PM me and I will. I'm sure people that know me or of my great war drawings will be able to back me up in that I never intend to cause offence. Here are some sample Aussie drawings that I did of the great war, as a sample of my other art work:
Now draw the millions they raped , tortured and murdered. Sappernz, i really don't think Soren is glorifying their actions, just drawing figures from history Thanks Chris, Really interesting and a beautiful bit fluid drawing but I bet the subject matter was very unlikely!!! Soren very unlikely indeed! i like the trench sketch very much btw chris
Soren I really enjoy your drawings that I have seen on the WW1 forum and have no criticism of your undoubted talent or the fact you have never glorified war at all. If I may apologise to you as I never intended my comments as a personal attack on you and if you felt that then I am truely sorry. I have just been reading Forgotten Voices of WW1, rereading Unit 731 as well as other Military books and was/am still thinking of the horrors of war and it was just seeing the drawings of jubilant Japanese that triggered my terse response. Your talent and integrity was never meant to be insulted. On reflection you were just showing the arrogance of those bastards when they were winning. Boy did they grovel when they lost. Please keep the artwork up. It is good.

[post=33064]Quoted post[/post] No worries sappernz, we had a documentary over here in blighty the other night about the Burma railway..... it never fails to shock me each time when I hear about the attrocities carried out by the Japanese.... the jubilant Japanese was just based on photo's of the time and was quite a famous type of image of the japanese during their early victories.... not representing a particular event during the war, It'd probably upset a WW2 veteran, but not intended that way. Soren
Hi Soren, I like your drawings very much, have you seen the book called the "Desert Rat Sketch Book by Clifford Saber? Saber was a volunteer American ambulance driver during the North Africa with the 8th Army, during this campaign he was to be wounded in the head by a piece of shrapnel at the Mareth Line. He survived his wounds and was sent back to the States and later on put together this sketch book/diary. This book gives a very good account of life in the desert and has some very good sketches, worth while having a look if you get a chance. I have hundreds of photo's of the North African campaign and would be more than happy to send you some copies, if you would like some original material to work with. Keep up the excellent work. Regards Kieron
