Another snippet from the Daily Mirror Tuesday Dec 10th 1940. Headline: Barked SOS to Police. Upon checking CWGC site for D F Cook I found that there were actually two listed. Then on closer inspection I think that they are the same person. COOK, DOROTHY FURNEAUX Rank:Civilian Date of Death:06/12/1940 Age:54 Regiment/Service:Civilian War Dead Reporting Authority:BRISTOL, COUNTY BOROUGH Additional Information: W.V.S. Mobile Canteen Driver; of 52 Clifton Down Road. Daughter of Arthur Alexander Gill Hall and Mary Stranger Hall, of 2 Rodney Cottages, Clifton; widow of Dr. Isaac Reginald Cook. Died at Bristol Docks. COOK, DOROTHY FURNEAUX Rankriver Date of Death:09/12/1940 Age:66 Regiment/Service:Young Men's Christian Association Grave Reference:Panel 1. Cemetery:BRISTOL (ARNOS VALE) CREMATORIUM Additional Information: Daughter of Alexander Arthur Gill Hall and Mary Stranger Hall. Dates and age varies in all three pieces of information. After checking various sources such as England & wales death index 1916 -2007. Cook Dorothy F aged 54 Bristol, Volume 6a, page 136. UK WW11 Civilian deaths 1939-45 page 388. England & wales death, National probate calendar page 268. In the 1911 census she is listed as aged 24 and birth about 1887 and was listed as a visitor at the Strand Palace Hotel London as single and a teacher of physical culture. I think I can say that they are the same person and Dorothy died on the night of 8/9th December 1940 aged 54. I have informed CWGC by email on 22nd April and am still awaiting a reply.
