    Thanks, Ross. Good observations.
What info is out there currently on the fate of Flamig's crew?

At first look - no trace of any footsteps in the sands of time for Flamig and crew but to a large extent this is the same for Becher-Ross and crew.

Lack of archive access to view primary documentation is a limitation to progressing this.

I'll dose up on coffee and dive in again later today.

This is good because if Simon Parry has confirmed via other sources that Becher-Ross and AN Other were found elsewhere, by elimination the Wilden Wood crew has to be Flamig & Co. to account for all Dorniers brought down on the afternoon raid, 15/9.
Thanks for your work on this.

Ok had to ask coffee to move over - this was a job for alcohol.

No mention in AIR40 of either Flamig or Becher-Ross and their crews.

No trace of UK burial or English death registration for Flamig or Becher-Ross and their crews upto end of 1941.

The Battle of Britain Then and Now MkV has
Dornier Do 17Z (2549) Shot down by fighters during bombing raid on London. Fw Simon killed. Uffz Hirsch, Uffz Flemming and Gefr. Sandmann missing. Aircraft US+FS a write off.

Dornier Do 17Z (3458) Crashed and exploded in Combwell Wood. Kllndown.....Oblt Becker-Ross, Oberfw Bruckner and Fw Hansen killed. Fw Brinkmann missing. Aircraft 5K+GN a write off.

I cannot reconcile these entries with either AIR40 or death register/burial entries for Simon, Becker-Ross, Bruckner or Hansen for the suggested casualties. The locations are also disputed by AIR40. However the crew groupings is consistent with other sources.

Luftwaffe Crash Archive Vol4 Parker has
Do17Z-2 (3230) Nine Acre Wood, Kilndown....Uffz Krummheuer, Fw Glaser, Uffz Sehrt, Uffz Lenz

This is confirmed by AIR40 and UK burial/register information for the fatalities.

Do17Z-3 (3458) Wilden Wood Oblt Becker-Ross, Ofw Bruckner, Fw Brinkmann, Fw Hansen all no known graves.

This is not confirmed by AIR40 but is confirmed for NKG by UK burial/register.

So for the aircraft and crew at Wilden Wood - No official document I can access at the moment gives identity so both crews are possible.

As for Parry information that Becher-Ross was recovered from the Channel and another member of his crew was washed ashore in East Anglia. I have no access to Seenotdienst archive to check this source for Becher-Ross but I can find no trace of a crew member being landed and identified. Because of lack of archive access I will not discount this but must consider the lack of burial/death register confirmation to prevent acceptance as fact.

For the moment I will accept either crew as equally possible for Wilden Wood until Parry details confirmed when the balance of evidence would swing to Flamig crew.

    Regards
    Ross

Has this mystery ever been solved? Would love to know if a follow-up search would be beneficial.
