Does this Sherman tank photo seem odd to you? Any idea where and when it was taken? There is nothing written on the backside.
There seems to be a slight lack of roadwheels which begs the question 'how did it get there?' And why is the track still on?
It is in a better state than some of the 1 DB tanks! Even Allied Units were salvaging road wheels from wrecks so I presumes the wheels (bar the one snagged behind the sprocket) were removed and this wreck then shunted sideways off the road and that is why there is a build-up of earth on the side facing the camera.
Many She man's were in use by the Russians and those standing on and around do not look Germany. Could be a beute Russian Sherman ( Captured by Germans ) and then recaptured or put out of action by the Russians. Regards Tom
It's apparently in Panzerwrecks 16, which focuses on The Bulge: Panzerwrecks 16: Bulge - Battle of the Bulge book - Panzerwrecks The text is blurred on the sample image, but readable with concentration: https://d6a2z3m5.stackpathcdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/PWXVI-sSamplesw5.jpg
