Did anyone watch this last night? A really good programme, available to watch on BBC iplayer.

    Episode 1 of 2.
A deepwater dive team search the seabed off the coast of Northern Ireland for the forgotten shipwrecks of WW2's Battle of the Atlantic.

It was a follow on from Dig 1940, which Jules presented for us in 2009, and Dig WW2 we did with Dan Snow in 2011. This new series is made by the same production company, 360Production. Nothing to do with me this time, however.

Not seen it myself yet as I recorded it but I've been told it got exceptional viewing figures which is good news for TV military history.

Jules Hudson is a nice guy with a genuine interest in military history; which I think comes across.

It was really well done Paul and Jules did a very good job.
I only saw it was on at the last minute and it was a pity I never saw it advertised beforehand by the BBC :(
I will try and remember to post episode 2 up before it airs next Sunday :)

Being a diver I watched it - it was originally shown a year or so ago but stood watching again.

    Some very good underwater footage.

Mike - this is a new series as far as I know?

Paul, according to my TV guide (but it is the Daily Mail) Sunday's programme was a repeat.

I am sure I saw it when it was first broadcast - if it isn't a repeat then it could be a second series - but I am pretty sure they were the same U-boats being dived.

Looking at the BBC website episode 1 was broadcast on BBC1 on 27 May and, episode 2 on 3 June this year, but both episodes were only broadcast in Northern Ireland

edited to make it clearer (apologies)

That seems strange - only show episode 2 in NI? Thinking about it I might have seen the second one on BBC Iplayer, which does show NI programmes sometimes.

Sorry Mike I meant they were both only broadcast in Northern Ireland

As a diver I am very interested in any UW programmes on TV. I have watched part one, still have part 2 to watch. Both parts were on TV here the last 2 weeks. Great UW footage.

    Cheers

Paul, have you been watching Descending on the travel channel?

Mixed views about their diving skills but the UW video is outstanding.

Mike I don't have access to the travel channel.

    Cheers

There is plenty of WW2 related stuff to see all around Northern Ireland - Please take a look at http://www.ww2ni.webs.com

I am off to the Ballymena area on Saturday looking for Gibraltarian Refugee Camps and have a considerable list of places which I have yet to visit.

Should keep me busy for years to come.
