Hello everyone. I am looking for anyone who has infommation about Diko Mavrodiev, from Plovdiv, Bulgaria. Diko would be about 104 now. Pastor Mavrodiev was the head of the Pentecostal Church in Plovdiv during WWII and housed secret Resistance meetings in his basement, endangering the lives of his whole family. He hid Ezra Mordechai in his basement for 3 years to save his life and also helped Anton Ivanov head of the Plovdiv based resistance movement. I am looking for anyone who can personally verify this information. I am in touch with Diko Mavrodiev's sons, James Dixon and Yanko Dixon. (they changed their names after being smuggled into America. After WWII The Russians persescuted Diko and his family severely. Fearing for their lives, Diko was forced to send his children clandestinely to the US.) Thank you very much for any information. Sorry but I moved this thread to searching for someone as it does not fit in with the non commemorated sub forum
I was out in Plodiv a couple of years ago, and am sure I have a photo of a memorial plaque. I will dig through my files and see if I can find it
