Excellent. You can never have enough archaeology on T.V.

One question Paul. Did you have any problems with any Nighthawks during the digs?

We don't advertise during the course of the filming what we are doing or where, so it stops that from happening. I have seen one series where they excavated a battlefield and were doing daily updates on an internet forum, and their site got robbed in the middle of the night. Another dig I know of this year actually employed security on the site because of this, but again they were very vocal about what they were doing so it was perhaps wise.

As you'll see from the series some of the aircraft digs are in remote locations, well off the tourist trail.

Good stuff. Really looking forward to this now. There was a recovery of the remaining debris of a Spitfire that crashed in 1942 about a mile from where I live in 2005. It was fascinating to see what was recovered.

I will go and add it to the recording schedule on the magic box to watch when I am allowed the use of the remote control! ie - when everyone else is out!

Looks quite an interesting series. Also over a broad scope of areas and theatres of the war.

It's a shame they are only half an hour long. I hope they do the subjects justice in that short time.

My role in this one was historical advisor for the land warfare side of things. As this was commissioned for BBC1 it's a very different sort of doco compared to what we've done before; it's aimed at a post-One Show audience, which is why it's a 30 minute format; the whole thing is presenter based, with no 'experts' in it as such - but the digs are very strong, and there are plenty of veteran interviews. No programme can hope to cover any subject in any depth but I think (hope) people here would feel we've done some justice to it in the time/commission restraints.

Our follow up series, Dig WW2, will cover the whole war and is for BBC2, so will be slightly more in-depth.

No-one can see it outside the UK using iPlayer unless they mask their ISP, but I never said that...
