Died in Italian POW Camp

    Hi Andrew - The red link below explains all. But in short I go to the National Archives in London for forum members who live too far away or don't have the time to visit and photograph files at a rate of 10p per page.

    Thanks Vitellino for the info about the POWs re-interred at Ancona from Fermo. You're probably right about MacNicol dying of disease rather than being shot, but it would be nice to know for sure.

    And thanks Drew5233 for the clarification: I thought the red "Click here" was an ad and didn't connect it with you until now! - but I think I am getting the hang of things after my initial confusion. If you do happen to be at the Archives in the near future, I would be happy to pay you for copying the WO 311/1221 file for me and I can check it to see if Richard MacNicol was the victim of the shooting.

    As it happens, I will be in England in June for the first time since 1997, so maybe I will drop in and take a peek myself!
