Destroyed tanks

    Thanks, that's what I thought, but the landscape looks so dry...

    One thunderstorm and all that dust soon becomes deep mud. Italy would you think? There were some long grousers that extended a further 4 inches past the edge of the track issued there, but I can't find a reference.

    And something else, right over on the right-hand side of frame, behind the KV's turret. Also the house on the right is well-minced - a big hole in the roof! - while the one on the left is missing a few slates...the tree in the middle of the shot has been charred, while there's vegetation on the two smaller ones on the foreground.

    Something BIG came down, either a Jabo/tankbuster attack, or artillery. A small stick of bombs - a Stuka's spread? I'm not sure about the artillery; there's a group of civilians over on the left - they'd have been in the next county by now if it was an artillery barrage!!!

    Just as an aside - midway through the war they were also sent a joblot of Spitfires by the British...and didn't like them either!!!

    Drew, pic #208...the British tank - is that a close-up of the one found used in Berlin in front of the cathedral as a pillbox in April 1945???
