A friend of mine, when he was a child, met two British officers.( His mother worked as a translator for the officers).Their names: Mr. Gilmore and Major Zwolf. He also mentioned that how disgusted he was about the name rats being nasty animals making people sick. But also proud, because these and other officers looked after him while his mum was busy translating stuff. Does any member know what happened to these two officers? Stefan.
Stefan, Strange that such an unusual surname Zwolf does not readily identify a British Army officer, e.g. London Gazette.
David, my friend said that may be he was an Ex-German or Polish officer. In both cases Jewish? Possibly the wrong spelling. Stefan.
