I could imagine my Dad's 6th division and the British 7th Armoured divisions having a wow of a time here after taking Derna.

...the latest picture does not show Derna but definitely Benghazi. Had sent this message to Australia about a year ago..

If you want me I could name several of the buildings - but the unique two-cuppola cathedral is enough for identification :)

Just placed another photo of the cathedral in Benghazi over the other and they look like twins.

Kuno I have a picture in my collection
that didn't have an inscription on the
back of where it was taken and the
other day I was watching a clip on
U tube of the DAK in Derna/Bardia and
there this place was, if you get to the
film counter of 140 to 145 you'll see
its the same place, as I can not
unterstand German/Italian still not sure if its
    Bardia or Derna...any idea?

    0:46, Derna
    1:10, Derna until 1:34
1:35, Bardia (until the wrecked planes)
    3:42, Don't know...

...and regarding the language: It would not help you much to understand German. The speaker is Italian ;-)

I just came across this photo - I suppose it's not amazingly interesting...But perhaps from the point of view of historical interest it's relevant...

My father's caption for this was 'Derna, Gem of the Mediterranean'!

(- This image should be withing the 'ideal size' for pics as stated in the image sizing thread. But if you find it not acceptable please tell me so I know for future posts. Thanks.)
