Can anyone help with this? Trying to decipher my grandads service record, something that's in there looks like 12th fld tap or Tnp, to do with the artillery. Any idea what it could stand for? I guess that 12th field is the first bit, but the second is not regiment!
Hi wench Suggest you scan/copy the document so that members can see the context in which the deciphering bit is required. TD
Hi Wench Its still difficult to read the page completely, a suggestion would be that as he seems to have been assigned the name of Driver that Fld T?p could be Field Transport. Is it possible to see a copy of the whole page - thanks TD
12th Field Training Regiment RA. Here he qualified as a Driver I/C (internal combustion or motor vehicle as opposed to a driver of a horsed team).
By comparing what you thought was a P, with the g in Rgt, the line below, you can see that it is a g, the tail of the g partially obscured by the Rgt. The Army order no's partly seen on the left more or less confirms this, 66/41 12th Field Training Regiment RA. Here he qualified as a Driver I/C His next Army order 6/41 /41 Has him being posted to 8th Survey Regiment RA.
