I have to admit I've never been a fan of Dad's Army, give me Allo Allo for WWII comedy.

    Oh no, I hated that.
    Awful series.
Thing is I can't watch the re-runs of Secret Army without thinking of 'Allo 'Allo.

    Allo, Allo ?

Like Owen, I abhor the program and it's complete concept.

Why is it that 'Dad's Army' always seemed so respectful despite the personal foibles of the characters and yet 'allo allo' somehow seemed to belittle the suffering and struggles of so many ?

Strangely enough - Love Thy Neighbour
DID get rerun about two years ago, just once through, on one of the obscure satellite channels!!!

'They dont like it up um' and 'dont panic' are instantly recognisable

and will be etched in the TV history for ever,

    along with the likes of...

'dont mention the war' - fawlty towers

    'four candles' - two ronnies

    absolutely timeless gems

You would have to be of an age to remember it, but I aways thought " It Ain't Half Hot Mum" was a nice little TV programme. perhaps cause it was an R.A. thing.

Hello chaps - sorry if someone has already mentioned this (did a search but didn't find anything) but is anyone else going to catch the new theatre tour production of Dad's Army?

Leslie Grantham reprises his role of Walker that he did to much critical acclaimed in the first run of the 'lost episodes' which toured a while back...

The three episodes being re-created this time are: "The Loneliness of the Long Distance Walker", "A Stripe for Fraser" and "The Deadly Attachment"...

The "The Deadly Attachment" will be everyone's favourite as it contains the immortal line "Don't tell him, Pike" delivered by Capt Mainwaring after a captured German U-boat captain demands their names.

    Anyway - I'm excited! ;)

Here's a link to the list of dates and venues...
