    Hi Howard,

I've just had a look on the National Archives website for the unit war diaries and there are 5 covering the whole of the war:

    WO 166/1398 1 Northamptonshire Yeomanry. 1939 Oct.- 1941 Dec.

WO 166/6908 1 Northamptonshire Yeomanry. 1942 Jan.- Dec.

    WO 166/11085 1 Northamptonshire Yeomanry 1943 Jan.-Dec.

WO 171/859 1 Northamptonshire Yeomanry 1944 Jan.- Dec.

WO 171/4703 1 Northamptonshire Yeomanry 1945 Jan.- Dec.

The first three are of the units time in the UK and the last two are of them deployed in North West Europe.

    Cheers
    Andy

    Howard -
It may be of Interest that the NOTTS Yeo were in VIII Brigade in the desert and fought in most of the battles in that campaign leaving Tunis for the Uk around December '43- probably before your Father joined them - but their history is one to admire..

Like Howard, my late father Michael Tull also served in the 1st Northamptonshire Yeomanry during the Battle for NW Europe. He remained with the Battalion right the way through the European Offensive till its liberation of Zwolle in Holland where he met and subsequently married my late mother. Dad was a tank driver, the Sherman her drove was called 'Kiev'. He never spoke about his service days. Following my mothers recent death whilst clearing the family home, I came across a copy of the history of the NY written by RF Neville. It would be great to know whether anyone has any information regarding my father, his Sherman 'Kiev' and of which Squadron he was a memeber.

Hey Andy, Did you copy some or just looked them through.
I wonder if there was an entry about a tank incident on 30-10-1944 just before the tank battle at Raamsdonk (31st).

I've not looked at the actual diaries. The info is the file ref number, file name and period covered which are listed online at the National Archives.
