TD - Place of death should read Ischia (Gulf of Naples).

The top image states that [Ischia]- the second set of details is down to the normal level of intelligence posessed by those employed by Ancestry to transcribe from the original

In case you missed it - the recent permissible access to the 1939 Register on Ancestry, having been transcribed by them shows my father William now being called Lillian, and born not in 1918 but in 1878, these will be the only 2 revisions [in the 1939 register] and the last I will be making for Ancestry on this or in fact any other database they have

As if to reinforce TD's point, I only found this record because Albert's surname had been correctly transcribed as Harder.

Sometimes wonder how you chaps cope. What with original mistakes by the enumerator compounded with transcription errors.

From a test I did with Tony56, he checked my dads details via FMP and they had transcribed them correctly, - but thats not to say everyone transcription on FMP will be 100% correct.

Its a part of the "so called fun" of finding someones details through the mists of time and error. Ancestry though I have say is becoming ridiculously error prone, and their latest software update - well theres not enough space, suffice to say yesterday I was looking for someone and in total I was told there was about 50 results, - great I thought thats narrowed it down nicely, BUT then when I open for example Family Trees (8 Records) how many family trees do I find........................
absolutely effing zero and that happened with some of the other categories that said they had results - grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

I share your pain - to illustrate a big point with a little example, to track down my King's Own Scottish Borderers kin I now routinely look on Ancestry for King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry...
