The Royal Armoured Corps served as part of the 50th Division on D-Day with 2 units from the Westnminster Dragoon Guards and the Royal Tank Regimenets. Would these units worn the Cap Badge of the RAC or their own regimantal cap badges?
Hi Paul, Units of the RAC were not part of of 50 Div, but under command for the assault. The Westminster Dragoons (not "Guards") wore their own badge, as did the other two RAC units, 8 Armoured Brigade and C Sqn 141 RAC (Churchill Crocodiles). There was no Royal Tank Regiment unit on D Day. Michel
Note that 141 RAC wore the dragon cap badge of The Buffs (Royal East Kent Regiment), having been converted from 7th Bn The Buffs in 1941. Chris
