CWGC Yokohama Cemetery (Japan): pics of all war graves/memorials now available (4 images attached - cropped). Whilst in Tokyo recently, I had the opportunity to visit CWGC Yokohama and take pictures of all graves and names on all memorials. Images now available from CWGC Yokohama Cemetery include: A. Australian section: Images of all grave/pedestal markers. B. Canadian and New Zealand section: Images of all grave/pedestal markers. C. British section: Images of all grave/pedestal markers. D. Indian Forces section: Images of all grave/pedestal markers and all names on YOKOHAMA MEMORIAL. E. The Yokohama Cremation Memorial: images of all c350 names on all 9 panels. F. British Commonwealth Forces Cemetery (post ww2): Images of all grave/pedestal markers. note: there are also a number of children buried in this particular plot. In addition: 1. There is one VC holder buried in the British Commonwealth Forces Cemetery: WO2 Simpson VC.,DCM.(1 SAS). Will post separately with image of grave marker. 2. AVM Sir Cecil Bouchier (first commander of the Indian Air Force) is buried next to WO2 Simpson: image of his grave available on request. 3. The oldest cemetery in Yokohama contains c4500 graves and is known as The Yokohama Foreign General Cemetery. Just inside the main entrance are 2 large copper tablets commerating a total of c100 men who fought in various countries during WW1. I assume these men were originally living in Japan, but beyond that, cannot shed any light on why they are commerated here. Images of both tablets and associated names are available on request. Hi Buckit Where would I find the pics you refer to in your recent post. My Granddad - Gunner Joseph Hughes fell to the Japanese at Hakodate camp in 1942 I wonder if you have a picture of his headstone at yokohama cemetery.
