I'm posting this for Member bucklt, as he's in foreign climes and on a poor Internet connection. ~A CWGC Taukkyan (Burma)...Home of the VC warrior Is that an appropriate title i.e ''home of the VC warrior'' for this particular grave site at Taukkyan in Burma? It contains the graves of 7 soldiers who were awarded the VC and in addition, it contains the names of a further 6 men who were also awarded the VC but have no known graves. Of these 6 men; 1 has his name engraved on the Cremation Memorial and 5 have their names engraved on the Rangoon Memorial. See 13 attached images. Known Graves ALLMAND VC BLAKER VC CAIRNS VC HOEY VC KNOWLAND VC RAYMOND VC WESTON VC Cremation Memorial K S JUDGE VC Rangoon Memorial F DIN VC P SINGH VC N B THAPA VC P SINGH VC R S SINGH VC S SHAH VC In summary: 13 VC holders are buried/commerated at this one site, and as a total of 182 VCs were awarded during WW2...that figure of 13 equates to c7% of the total awarded. Quite a figure indeed! Is there a grave site elsewhere with 13 or more VCs commerated in this way...just curious ? I am attaching pictures of all 7 graves (reduced pixel size) and all 6 names (reduced pixel size) and trust that you will find them of interest. I am not aware of any web site which offers all the 13 pictures as a 'set' and would be more than happy to assist anyone who wants to write an article using all of these images. Contact me via: nt872b(at)hotmail.com to discuss further. Tony View attachment 31962 View attachment 31963 To repeat - this has been posted on behalf of member bucklt.

Great to see all these VCs together. Thanks to Tony for taking them and Adam for posting them. Cheers Paul
My mum reminded me today of Highland Road Cemetery in Portsmouth, which contains the graves of 8 VC holders (Including the very first man to receive one) - so in terms of actual interments that's more than Taukkyan. Highland Road Cemetery
