Whilst at CWGC Kranji in Singapore, I managed to photograph all the names - c25,000 - on the Singapore Memorial* (*sometimes known as the Kranji Memorial).

As there are 13 very large pillars supporting 472 columns which, in turn, are
displaying c25,000 names, you MUST provide me with the correct column number, and you can do this by visiting the CWGC website here: CWGC - Homepage

All above images are now available - FREE - to family members, relatives, researchers and historians. When asked, I normally suggest that you make a donation to a Forces Charity of your own choice.

Please contact me - with your requirements - via my email; nt872b(at)hotmail.com

Cemeteries already completed - includes all graves/names on memorials* (as of December 2012):

    Only just discovered this site.

I have recently discovered my great grand-father died aboard the Hofuku Maru in September 1944 and is commemorated at the Kranji Memorial in Singapore.

If anyone can help with supplying a photo of his particular tile/name, it would be much appreciated, and please a lot of his kin, who have never had the chance to see it in person.

His name is William Hancock, and he is commemorated on column 46.

    His inscription reads -

    In Memory of
    Driver WILLIAM HANCOCK

2317493, 'M' Corps Sigs., Royal Corps of Signals
    who died age 40
    on 21 September 1944
Husband of V. E. Hancock, of Worksop, Nottinghamshire.
    Remembered with honour

    Hi Bucklt,
This member would very much like your help, but is having a bit of bother posting on the forum, so I'm posting their query for 'em:

    Dear WW2Talk,
I recently went on a cruise to Singapore after finding [on the internet] that my Uncle's name was on one of the Kranji War Memorial Walls.
I was so thrilled because my dear Father, and indeed the rest of the family who have now passed away, lived not knowing there was such a place where my Uncle would be remembered.
My Father gave me the medals and the tiny -yes tiny, letter which he had received from the British War Office saying "Missing in action presumed dead".
When we arrived in Singapore we used a taxi to visit the site, spent nearly two hours searching- even asking various workers there if they could help us find him, all to no avail.
I can't tell you how disappointed I was, I cried all the way back.
I have found your website and that you have photographed all the walls at Kranji and was wondering if you would look to see if his name is there and please send me a photo - When you have time.
    I'll put his details below.
I would be very grateful,Thank you,
    Blythe.

    Hi - and congratulations !
I've been researching my father for what seems like ages.
    Finally found via cwgc.org
Problem was they mis-spelled his middle name.
Actual name was William Bowe Wilson.
They spelled it as William Rowe Wilson.
Details: William Rowe Wilson R.A Column 34 Kranji
Might you have a photo of this ?
Look forward to your reply. Email brianfwilson@hotmail.co.uk
