A memorial rededication will take place at Wittenburg CWGC Cemetery, Germany on 21.4.2017
    Details are as follows.
    Rededication Ceremony - Germany
I am unable to attend due to ceremonies on 23rd and 25th but I know that Bergen Hohne Branch have been invited to attend the ceremony.
This will be of interest to those like Andrew with a special interest in 1940.
    Regards
    Tom

Private Thompson was captured by German troops in May 1940 and was sent to the Prisoner of War camp, Stalag XXA, located in Torun, Poland. He spent the rest of the war as a prisoner, until the final stages when the Germans forced tens of thousands of Allied POWs to march away from the approaching Russians in extreme winter weather. Private Thompson died on 3 March 1945 on this march from dysentery. He was buried by his fellow POWs in a small civilian cemetery in Wittenburg, Germany.
