Is there anyone out there among those who visit Kew, who has an interest in looking up WW2 General Court Martial Records? I am interested in one in Shrewsbury and another in Berlin, both in 1945. If you can help me out please let me know and I will provide the details that I have to assist the search. Regards,
Mick E, I do know that Andy (Drew5233) will copy anything in any of the files at TNA. I have made use of him quite a bit and his service his excellent and of high quality. Another chap who could help is PsyWar.Org. I haven't used his services, but believe that he offers excellent help as well. Both charge around the same. You might be better off contacting one or both directly. Mark
Hi and welcome Mick Lee may want to help you with this but I have currently given up on them. Unfortunately IMO, the entries are not in any real order (ceratinly not name or date of offence or conviction), they appear to be recorded in the order the admin clerk received the details from the units and some are entered over 6 months after the conviction. I spent over two hours looking through 4 registers for one person and gave up - for now. If its an officer you are looking for I suspect these will be easier to find as there are a lot less. Each register contains around 5,000 entries as a best guess.
Thanks Drew, I often wondered... is that all they consist of? No other written documents or references? There was a few that I was going to look up, but wouldn't waste time if that is all they are.

Folks, Thank you for the feedback and suggestions. The records I am looking for relate to the General Court Martial of an officer. Looks like it may be a bit difficult for little gain. I have done a number of searches and trawls through TNA indexes online with little success. So if anyone needs a challenge, please let me know. Cheers,
I also have an Officer to research from 1944 apparently he was "cashierd" Would you undertake this Drew5233 if I PM'd you the details. He was an Intelligence Officer for the Auxiliary Units.

Cheers, Sorry I missed this thread the first time around, but Mick as you're talking about an officer then there might be a proceedings file in WO 71. PM me the officer's details and I'll have a quick check for you. Lee
Hi I wonder if anyone could help me as I have just received a copy of a register covering Palestine in 1940 with an entry concerning my father. Under Misc Military Offences there is a 37.1 and in the remarks column 16. What does the terms above mean as he was returned to the ranks. Is this the only record of the trial Thanks Trevor
Search: Military Offences section 37 (Hansard) Hazarding a guess he probably gave a subordinate a bit of a thumping!
I've copied a fair few of these registers now-If he hit an officer it would give the rank of who he hit. See the second image in post No.5 - Half way down there are some ranks given under striking a sub.
Them too. See the images in post 5 I think I just saw Cpl's and Captains etc. listed in the same column.
