    Hi all,

I have been working on a project for my Father, and I am researching information about my Grandfather's time during WW2. Please accept my apologies if I am providing very limited information, I don't have much, and I can't find much online! I am most certainly going to apply for his military records, but I was wondering if anybody could help me with the information I have please. I have included all that I've been able to find:

    Arthur Lidster.
    Born in Wath, South Yorkshire.
Enlisted in 1938, the 188th Battery of the 67th Brigade. (York & Lancaster?)
Service number 1429194. Royal Artillery (Field, Coastal & Anti-Aircraft) 1.
Wounded in 1944, casualty list number 1530. Gunner, and location NW Europe.
    Secondary unit - 27 Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment.
He enlisted at only 15. He and his 4 elder brothers enlisted.

    Thank you in advance,
    -Ess.

That's right - the second one! I was able to find out that he was wounded in NW Europe. He remained at duty. His secondary unit was 27 Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment.

So you found this information online, such as newspaper clippings, your Grandfather's service number, the Battalion he served in, and a tracer card, but that's all you have.

Better post them on here pronto. It might take a while and time is getting on.

This is the tracer card. The other information I have posted above. I've just had trouble trying to deciper the information on here.

    Y List
The army ruling at one time was that if a soldier had been in hospital for 21 days or more he was put on the Y-list; which meant that when he became fit for duty he was sent to a holding unit and then could be sent to any unit requiring his skills or experience.
This, in most cases, was not a popular move which, was changed.
The ruling became that if a soldier was in hospital for 21 day when wounded or sick, when fit he would return to his own unit if required or could be transferred to another unit.

Thank you so much for your help. Yes, I've found the casualty list. Regiment listed on there as 27 Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment, which correlates with the above!

I know that one of the medals he received is the one I've attached as an image - XXX Corps Commemorative Medal.
Am I correct in thinking, then, that may show his, or more broadly, the Regiment's movements, as at least in Belgium, Holland, and Germany between September '44 and March '45? (As attached from the website you linked).
I know that he also received the France and Germany star, so I think I'm getting a rough idea of his whereabouts now.
He didn't speak much of his time during the War, but I know that he landed at Normandy. On the attached picture for this Regiment, too, it says '2 Army'. Is this the Second Army? Second Army (United Kingdom) - Wikipedia.

    Thank you again!

Search online with "67 heavy anti-aircraft" site:ww2talk.com (You can change the "content" and add another e.g. "burma".

Just used "67 heavy anti-aircraft" site:ww2talk.com and it found five threads. When changed to "67th heavy anti-aircraft" site:ww2talk.com four different threads and one repeat. Adding (Yorks&Lancs) made no clear difference.

There are seven threads when using "27 Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment" and many more when using "27th Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment".

Neither his name and service number have appeared here before your thread.

Your XXX Corps medal confirms that he was in that Corps assuming it was issued to him.
Derek Barton's Royal Artillery 1939-45 website is usually correct and if not, he drops by to make corrections (he is a Senior Member on here).
The list Derek has created will be easier to follow and more detailed than the Service Record as he was in the same unit all through, not posted elsewhere.
Your link to 2nd Army is correct.
His Campaign Meals should appear on his Service Record (not sure about the XXX Corps one as it is for a specific Corps not a Campaign).

It seems that we have satisfied your criteria to date.

If not please come back and let us know we try to help as much as possible.

Again, thank you all for your help. There is just one last thing; This is the record from the casualty list. Does the number before '27, LT.A.A' tell me anything please? Battery, perhaps?
I can't really tell if this is '715', or '415'!

It will be 27 Light Anti Aircraft Regiment.

Queries about hand written numbers on casualty lists have been asked and answered previously.
